How dark should you go?
70% · Barely there
Hardly looks tinted, but still cuts heat, glare and UV. Often the only shade allowed on front windows in stricter states.
50% · Light
A subtle, factory-glass look with real heat and glare reduction.
35% · The popular middle
Noticeably tinted with a clean look. You can still see out easily at night.
20% · Dark
Good daytime privacy. Usually chosen for back windows: very few states allow it on the front side windows.
5% · Limo
Very private and very dark. No state allows it on the front side windows; some allow it on back windows.
The percentage is how much light gets through: lower is darker. You can choose a different shade for the front, back and rear windows.

What customers say
More customer stories →-
“I had 8 garage door windows to tint. After the first one, I buzzed through the remaining 7 in a little more than an hour. The pre-cut shapes went up in a flash with next to zero waste, and it was fun not having to mess with scissors and measuring tapes.”
Jeff D., Reno, NV
-
“Everything went up as easy as your website suggests.”
David N., Boston, MA
-
“Everything went perfect. The film covers every square inch of the window. There are no bubbles and no creases. My car is looking amazing.”
Mark B., Lansing, MI
You can install it yourself
Most car kits go on in an afternoon. Here's how it works.

- We cut it to orderComputer-cut to the exact pattern and shipped rolled in a protective tube.
- Clean, peel and applySpray, position and squeegee. No trimming on the glass.
Three tips for a clean install
- Clean the glass right into the corners and work somewhere low-dust: most bubbles start with a speck of dirt.
- Spray the adhesive and the glass generously so you can slide the film into place.
- Squeegee from the center out, then leave the windows up for at least three days while the film cures.
Precut window tint, cut in California since 2004
SnapTint cuts professional window film to fit your car's windows, or to the sizes of the windows in your home or office, and ships it ready to install. Every car kit is computer-cut from the pattern for your make, model and year, so the film fits edge to edge without trimming on the glass.
For homes and offices, enter the width and height of each pane and we cut the film to those sizes: solar films to keep rooms cooler, reflective films for daytime privacy, clear film that blocks UV fading, and frosted and decorative films for bathrooms, doors and offices.
We use films from SunTek and Solar Gard alongside our own SnapTint line, and every order is cut to order and shipped from Hayward, California. More than 37,000 orders later, we still answer the phone: (800) 880-1384.
Common questions
How dark is legal in my state?
It depends on the state and the window; the front side windows usually have the strictest limit. Pick your state in the shade guide above to see its rules, from TintCenter's state tint laws.
How long does it take to install?
Most car kits go on in an afternoon. Instructions and videos are included, and our tool kit has the squeegee and other tools you'll need.
How do I order film for my home windows?
Measure the width and height of each pane, enter the sizes on the film's page, and we cut the film to fit. Film is priced by the square foot, rounded up to whole square feet per window.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
Car kits have a lifetime replacement warranty: if the film discolors, bubbles, cracks or peels, we replace the affected pieces. The details are in our refund policy.
What if I damage a piece while installing?
Order a single replacement window in the same film and shade, from $9.99, without buying a whole kit.
